Create Your Own QR Code – Rainy City

Inspired by the some of the torrential rain we have experienced recently ///OIII/// has submitted this drawing for the Create Your Own QR Codes Gallery. I like the quick spontaneous nature of the drawing which reflects what is going on in the world around us. The drawing is very nature vs science in the way ///OIII/// is subverting the strict science of the binary code grid to create an artwork that makes you pause for thought.

Create Your Own QR Codes – A Big Glass Of Icecream

Russell, Aged 4 has submitted this wonderful artwork inspired by his deep love of icecream. He shows early promise with his artistic abilities I’m hoping to feature more of his work in the future if possible. I may need to bribe him with chocolate which shouldn’t be too hard because he has certainly made up for lost time since he discovered he liked chocolate this year!

Inspired by the beauty of the QR codes I have been producing I thought it would be an interesting experiment to do a charcoal drawing of the ʇıqɹouıʇuǝɔuıʌ QR code and see if it would still work if you scanned it with your Iphone or Android. Thanks to Our Friends In The South testing out the free NEO software for Iphones I know this experiment has been a success. Just to add to the fun I have created another QR code for the drawing of the QR code, confused yet?

Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder

I have been working on these art works for months developing ideas with sketch books and using a restricted colour palette. I also started producing paintings for the concept but that took too long to execute and was frustrating my progress as it took so long to finish even a small scale painting.  To get the momentum back into the artwork I made use of working with the digital format which from my point of view has been very satisfying and given the project back the energy that it required.

Strangely after I had started producing these artworks I noticed a new bar code system on food products that was in a new square format and very similar to the paintings I was working on, after a bit of research I found out that they were called Data Matrix symbols and that they also use a binary code system to store product data. I love the synchronicity taking place here with some of my previous artworks and the twists and turns of projects that I am working on.
