Metanoia Festival

Alter Ego vzw got in touch with me recently about the ‘Metanoia’ music festival an exclusive evening of drone and ambient with Syndrome, Treha Sektori and Le Seul Elément on 21/sept 2013 at 019, Gent. The reason for the contact from our friends in Europe being the use of one of my artworks “In Search of Space” on the event poster needless to say I was delighted to say yes to support the evening and only wish I could be there myself to enjoy the music and ambience. See the following link for more information about the festival. https://www.facebook.com/events/505552662843203/

Working Mens Clubs

I thought I should document the gig venues of some of the posters that I have published so that you can see where my inspiration came from for many of the art works that I have been producing. Sadly many of the working mens clubs have now closed down or have disappeared altogether.

I had a fantastic time driving around County Durham looking for these venues with Mrs Inorbit as my club spotter we felt like private detectives photographing the clubs from the car window when it was raining. We got some funny looks I think the regulars thought we were either the DSS or gangland criminals about to ‘off’ someone. It was also really nice to talk to people as well as they were so helpful when I was trying to find a club I had not been to for decades. It’s funny how the mind plays tricks on you as in my mind these clubs seemed much bigger when I was going to them for a night out + it was a bit of a shock to see them looking so run down, closed, or whole streets knocked down or boarded up.

Christmas Greetings

Courtesy of The London Transport Executive in 1949 I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The original artist for this poster is Bruce Angrave who also worked on The Festival Of Britain, and also illustrated books as well as producing amazing posters.

For a bit of fun I have also created a link to WodenEye’s amazing  Christmas Mix Tape to get you in the mood for the festivities hope you enjoy.

Miles Davis Poster Remix 1

Thanks to Julian A for another spiffing poster remix I quite like the fact it’s not what I would have done that’s why the creative collaborations are so much fun and interesting and allow the artworks to take on new personas.

Charles Mingus Poster – Remix 1

I really like the collaborative approach to this work it’s good to take risks and let go and allow the possibility of something new and interesting happening. It’s also a lot fun bouncing ideas around with other like minded people. Thanks to Martin Grimes for another fab remix.

Gig Posters of Jazz Musicians

I thought it would be useful to round up this series of gig posters so that people can see at a glance some of the artwork I have been doing recently.
